Board Member

​

Bill grew up in a Navy family, arriving in Memphis, TN in 1971.  He attended Frayser High and received an appointment to the United States Military Academy in 1976.  He joined the Corps of Cadets on July 6th, 1976, along with 119 women that were the first to be admitted to West Point.

​

Upon graduation in 1980, Bill was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Infantry.  He served in a variety of leadership and staff positions from platoon to brigade level.  After completing the Armor Officer Advanced Course at Ft Knox, Kentucky; he was assigned to Germany where he commanded an infantry company in the 3rd Armored Division.  He returned to Fort Hood, serving as the Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General of the 1st Cavalry Division and the Operations Officer (S3) for Task Force 1-5 Cavalry.

After attending the Command & General Staff College, he was assigned to the US Army Personnel Command, Alexandria, VA.  Bill was selected to serve as the Military Aide to the Vice President in March 1993.  He served 3 years in The White House working for Vice President Al Gore.  While serving in the White House, he traveled to 64 countries and the 48 contiguous states.

Bill commanded 1st Battalion – 48th Infantry Regiment at Ft Leonardwood, MO.   After command he graduated from the US Air Force Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL prior to his last assignment at the US Southern Command in Miami, FL serving as the J35 - Chief, Contingency Plans.  Bill retired in 2001 and returned to Bartlett.

After serving in the Army, he became a project manager, estimator, and eventually the Vice President at Tri-State Ironworks during his 17-year tenure.

In 2020, he assumed duties as the Executive Director, Mid-South Independent Electrical Contractors (MSIEC), right here in Bartlett.  Bill manages the association of 55 electrical contractors and over 45 associate members.  He is an advocate for career opportunities in the electrical industry and takes great pride that the Mid-South IEC operates a Department of Labor Certified - 4-year Electrical Apprenticeship Program that provides limitless career opportunities for anyone that is ready to work hard and master the skills that electrical industry require in an ever-changing environment.

Bill lives in Bartlett.  He has been married to his wife, Kathy, for 42 years.  They have a daughter, Lindsay, a son, Nathan, a daughter-in-law Brandi and a granddaughter Cailyn.  Bill is a member of Bartlett United Methodist Church where he is active in the Methodist Men’s Group and the Seekers Sunday School Class.  Since 2018 he has served on the Board of Directors for the Alpha Omega Veterans Services, Inc. a Memphis-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization that serves displaced and homeless veterans.
